State Cost-Share Program
The State of Minnesota recognizes that
landowners who install conservation practices on
their land are making the greater Minnesota
community a better place to live and at the same
time are protecting natural resources, the backbone
of our state.

Shelterbelts & Windbreaks
Shelterbelts consist of 3 to 8
rows of trees and shrubs planted
on the north and west sides of a
farmstead or feedlot to protect
the farmstead and livestock from
blowing wind and to save energy.
Windbreaks consist of 1 to 3
rows of trees and shrubs that
border the north and west sides
of cropped fields to reduce
cropland erosion.

Have an un-used well? Seal it with State Cost-Share
An abandoned well is one that is
no longer in use. All abandoned
and un-used wells are health and
safety concerns. They not only
can lead to contaminated
groundwater, but they also pose
a risk to children, adults, and
animals.
State
Cost-Share offers 50% cost-share
rates to seal un-used wells in
Benton County, up to $1,000.
Please contact our office if you
would like more information.
